Inclement Weather Policy

In case of inclement weather, the voice mail message at 787-2506 will be updated by 8:00am Monday through Saturday and by 10:00am on Sunday to give the most accurate information possible.

If there are questions about mall hours, store managers should call this number to see if any changes have been made. Store managers should then notify their employees.

In addition, Crabtree Valley Mall uses the local media to announce closings. Our primary news station is WRAL-Channel 5. We also contact News 14 Carolina and WTVD Channel 11.

Our primary concern is the safety of our employees and shoppers. If the weather is questionable, we will review the forecast and make decisions as quickly as possible; however, we do not automatically close when it snows or there is a forecast for weather changes. We will look at conditions of the roads, etc., before making our determination.

Press Policy

The staff and merchants at Crabtree Valley Mall are available to assist the news media working on stories with these subjects: trends in retailing, shopping tips, trends in fashion, stories about the mall and stories about specific stores and merchants. We cannot always assist with man-on-the-street interviews or topics unrelated to retailing or to the mall. Call us, and we will evaluate our ability to assist on a case-by-case basis.

To set up an interview or arrange a time for a television shoot, call the mall office at 919-787-2506. If possible, we request 24-hours notice before any interview or photo session. We understand the time constraints on your business and will try to be accommodating; however, you must have permission before coming to the mall.

When you arrive on the mall property, please check in at the mall management office on the lower level. There is an outside entrance beside Panera Bread. At that time, our security department will give you a press pass that must be worn while you are on the property. Following your story, please return the press pass to the office and check-out. Even if you are interviewing a specific merchant and have cleared the interview with that merchant in advance, please give us a courtesy call. We will still need you to pick up a press pass while in the mall. This will alleviate confusion and allow you to move quickly through the mall to complete your assignment with as little interference as possible.

Store managers of many of the national chains are prohibited from speaking with the media by corporate policy. To assist the media and make the best use of everyone’s time, we have identified managers who can talk with the media and will direct reporters to them. Please note that the management staff does not have access to the anchor stores or to individual stores for interviews and photo sessions. Please coordinate with the anchors directly, or call us for contact names. The easiest times to interview a merchant are weekdays before 10:00 AM.

Crabtree Valley Mall hosts thousands of shoppers daily. Events can happen quickly and circumstances can change rapidly. If you have called in advance, arrived on time, checked in at the management office and still get delayed because of circumstances beyond our control, please be patient. Our first commitment is to our shoppers.
